Who Won on Jeopardy Tonight?
Whether you’re a trivia enthusiast or just a regular TV viewer, you probably want to know who won on jeopardy tonight. That’s why I’ve written this article, which is a quick and easy overview of who took home the prize.
Sam Buttrey
Throughout the tournament, Buttrey showed off his quick wit and winning smile. Having qualified for the Tournament of Champions after winning the first Professors Tournament last year, Buttrey has already become one of the fan favorites. His latest super-streak came in the form of a $100,000 prize.
Buttrey is an associate professor of operations research at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California. He also studied at the University of California, Berkeley, and the Phillips Exeter Academy. His first job was as a computer systems analyst at Cowen & Company from 1983 to 1991.
Buttrey first appeared on Jeopardy! in December 2021. He was a member of the Terrace Club at Princeton University and has been watching the show ever since. He’s also a software developer from San Francisco.
Andrew He
Having won two games in the Tournament of Champions (2022), San Francisco native Andrew He is on his way to winning the big prize. Unlike other tournaments that feature multiple winners, this competition only has three finalists. In order to win, players need three wins.
Andrew He is one of the fan favorites. He has won five games on Jeopardy! and earned a total of $23,101. He has a lot of buzz on social media because of his four-win streak. He is not afraid to go big with wagers. He has shown off bold wagers, as well as his impressive trivia knowledge.
The Tournament of Champions is being hosted by Ken Jennings. Jennings has hosted 21 games show greats over the past year.
Maureen O’Neil
During the Tournament of Champions, Ryan Long and Maureen O’Neil competed. In the first game, O’Neil won with a score of $7,500. After the game, she brought Mayim Bialik near tears. However, she was eliminated in the second game.
The third game saw O’Neil’s score drop to negative. This would have meant she wasn’t qualified to compete in the final round. O’Neil didn’t answer many of the questions. The incorrect answers shaved down her score. In the end, she only added $8,300 to her game total.
Maureen O’Neil is a Rye Beach, New Hampshire executive assistant. She is a huge fan of the show. She has studied hundreds of episodes. She is considered a “know-it-all” among friends.
Brad Rutter
Despite being one of the youngest contestants to ever win the game, Brad Rutter is a seasoned Jeopardy player. He has competed in several special tournaments and has won nearly all of them. He has also gotten the highest score in an individual game on “Jeopardy!” and is one of the most successful contestants in the show’s history.
When he competed in the Million Dollar Master’s Tournament in 2002, he won the most important prize in the tournament – a $1 million top prize. He also won a $100,000 grand prize for his performance. This was the first time a tournament winner received a million dollar prize. He has also been a participant in the Jeopardy All-Star Game, where he and his teammates won a $1 million prize.
James Holzhauer
During his 32-game streak last year, professional sports bettor James Holzhauer won over $2.46 million in prize money. That was more than twice as much as he won during his streaks with Jennings. With just seven games left in the current season, he’ll have a chance to reclaim his $2.5 million record.
He had a slick “all in” strategy that included doubling down on Daily Double clues. And he gambled big on Final Jeopardy. He was so far ahead that no one could catch him. He won $77,000 a game during his streak.
In the finals, he stayed ahead of two other contestants. After they both got the Final Jeopardy question wrong, he was still ahead. He also wrote greetings on the answers. He added $7,000 to his total with the second Daily Double.
Roger Craig
Despite the fact that Ken Jennings has been the unofficial champion of Jeopardy for the past six years, Roger Craig has topped his record for one day winnings. On Wednesday night, Craig bested the $75,000 mark, and won a whopping $530,200. The record breaker did not only break Jennings’s record, but also the record for most correct answers in a single game.
There are a number of records Roger Craig holds. He is the highest one-day winnings winner, and has outscored 14 other top “Jeopardy!” champions. He is also one of the five highest single game winnings players in the regular competition. His accomplishments include using text-clustering techniques, utilizing a J! Archive website, and developing an iPhone app to aid in answering questions.
