Tiger Woods Press Conference
Earlier today, Tiger Woods held a press conference to address some of the recent controversy. He addressed a number of topics, including the PGA Tour’s recent schedule change, the rights fees that are associated with his golf career, and his praise for Rory McIlroy. The news came a day after the former world number one was criticized for not listening to his fans.
Tiger Woods’ schedule isn’t realistic
Considering the fact that Tiger Woods has not played competitively since a serious car accident in February, it’s not hard to wonder if his schedule is realistic. He’s currently listed on the Masters website, but hasn’t committed to playing the event. He’s still scheduled to play in the PNC Championship, the week before the Masters, with his son Charlie.
Aside from the PNC, there are a number of other events on the PGA Tour calendar. The FedEx Cup playoffs are due to kick off August, and there’s a WGC-HSBC event in China that weekend. The Shriners in Vegas is also on the horizon.
As for the Masters, the tournament’s official website lists 85 players in the field. This includes a number of former winners, but it’s still a surprise that Woods hasn’t committed to the competition. The last time he competed in the event, he was a mere T39 in individual competition.
Tiger Woods doesn’t understand rights fees
During an interview last week, Tiger Woods pondered his latest business card, aka the Tiger Woods Club at Trump National Golf Club in Versailles, France. The defending titlist may have opted out of his deal, but that’s a story for another time. Regardless, it’s safe to say he’s not playing the field. Despite his best efforts, he’s been left in the lurch. That’s a shame, since the world renowned course in Versailles is one of the few venues to host an event of this caliber in recent memory. If he carries through, he’ll have to find a new home. For now, he’ll have to settle for watching the ballgame on the TV.
It’s no secret that the PGA Tour is one of the most prestigious sports leagues in the world. And, for the most part, the players are happy to oblige. It’s a bit of a different story on the women’s side, but it’s a fact that women are still a significant minority amongst the male sex.
Tiger Woods praises Rory McIlroy
Despite having a major injury in his left foot, Tiger Woods is planning to compete in the next edition of the The Match. This will be his third appearance in the event. He will face Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas in a best-ball format competition.
Earlier this week, Rory McIlroy said that he had no problem praising Tiger Woods. He said that his former partner was a true leader. He said that the support from Tiger meant the world to him. And he said that his children now know that he is a decent golfer.
While Rory McIlroy has been a big supporter of the PGA Tour, he is speaking out against LIV Golf. He says that the breakaway organization has a lot of issues and that he would like to see more players speak out against it. He also says that there are about 50 other players who have the same opinion.
Tiger Woods says he won’t play this week unless he thinks he can win
Throughout his career, Tiger Woods has had a lot of victories. But, he has also experienced a lot of defeat. That’s why he’s so desperate to play. He wants to be on the winning team. But, he knows that it takes a lot of time to get back to the level of competition that he used to be on.
This week, Woods will make his first public appearance since his car crash last February. He’ll take part in the Genesis Invitational alongside Nick Faldo and Jim Nantz. He’ll also speak with the media on Tuesday.
But, as Woods explained, his decision was tough. He could compete into his 50s or sit around and do nothing. He’s not sure when he’ll be able to play again. And, he knows that he’s not going to be able to play every PGA Tour event. But, he hopes to ramp up his schedule in 2023.

During a press conference, Tiger Woods had a chance to make the biggest splash in his career. But he didn’t. Instead, he reverted to his more familiar role as a devoted sporting monk.
Despite being the best player of the last two decades, Tiger Woods didn’t say much. He didn’t even get to show off his skills on the course. He was largely limited to hosting duties and dispensing wisdom at a news conference.
During a PGA Tour playoff event, Tiger Woods had an interesting opportunity to make a bold statement. He took his message to the press. But his speech didn’t come across as spontaneous, nor did it prove that he’s learned from his mistakes.
As a sports fan, it’s hard not to notice the massive amount of media coverage surrounding the golfer. Tiger has been targeted by white supremacists and he’s been under overweening expectations from his father. In addition to his professional career, his marriage and sponsorships are at stake.
